Thank you for your reply.
I have to tell you that I believe a university
needs to focus on Homeland Security-not dabble
in it! We also need people with hands on
experience, not high-ranking administrators or
academics that have never been on the front
lines. I think the time has come for a
University of Homeland Security. I also think
that we need to honor those on the front lines
in the war against terrorism (which HSU is doing
with free tuition). For these reasons, I am very
excited about your university.
For some reason, many people look down at
veterans and military people. Your school honors
them with free tuition. I think this says it
all!!
I am delighted that you are being awarded or
having large pieces of property offered. There
will be a need for classrooms, dorms and
external training facilities for Homeland
Security. Virginia is one of the few states that
require training for all security officers,
executive protection specialist and other
security fields. This would provide you with one
immediate market for your school and you may
want to give that state serious consideration.
There is also an immediate need for
transportation security training (maritime,
aviation, trucks, trains and buses). Most
colleges have only classroom training. In my
opinion, there is a need for blended learning.
We need to combine classroom with field
exercises and elearning. I am currently working
in all three areas. Traditional academia is just
too slow to move on this revolutionary approach
towards learning.
Scholarships (I have contacts for security
scholarships) career placement, library,
fellowships, grants and a chance to influence
decision makers will all be part of a world
class Homeland Security University. I am
prepared to help you in these areas.
You have a chance to save many lives with these
universities!
As you can see, I can do more than teach. I have
been developing ideas in security for many
years. The challenge has been to get people to
listen.
I think your university is the right idea, at
the right time and in the right place! The
`challenge is to immediately differentiate
yourself from your competitors. The good news is
that you can start locally, go regionally,
nationally and then internationally in a very
short period of time. This war on terrorism will
continue for the next two or three generations.
The need for a Homeland Security has never been
greater!
I look forward to meeting the HSU team!
All the best!
